Do I need an account to create a memorial?

Yes, you'll need to create a free account to create and manage memorials. This allows you to:

  • Edit your memorials at any time
  • Manage condolence messages
  • Access AI enhancement features
  • Create multiple memorials

Creating an account only takes a minute and helps protect your memorial from unauthorized changes.

What's the difference between a Death Notice and a Memory Mantle?

Death Notice (€2.99): A simple, dignified announcement including basic information, funeral details, one photo, and 1 free AI photo enhancement. Published by a verified funeral director, the notice page is live and shareable immediately and appears in the public listing.

Memorial (€9.99): A digital memorial with up to 50 photos, biography, life timeline, condolence e-book, and 5 AI photo enhancements. Listed permanently.

Premium Memorial (€24.99): A comprehensive memorial with up to 250 photos, full life timeline, 10 AI photo enhancements, and an included HD slideshow video. Listed permanently.

You can start with a death notice and create a full memorial when you're ready.

Why is there a €2.99 charge for death notices?

The €2.99 covers the cost of permanently hosting the notice. Death notices are published by the verified funeral director handling the arrangements, so the trust and accuracy of every notice comes from the director who publishes it — not from the family submitting documents.

The fee also includes 1 free AI photo enhancement, which the director (or the family, once the page is handed over) can use to restore, colourise, or sharpen your loved one's photo.

Keeping the fee small means a lasting, respectful record of the funeral arrangements without any personal paperwork like ID or a death certificate.

Who can publish a death notice?

Death notices on MemoryMantle are published by verified funeral directors. This keeps the public listing a trusted record of funeral arrangements that mourners can rely on.

If you're a family arranging a funeral, ask the funeral director handling the arrangements to publish the notice — or find a funeral director on MemoryMantle. You can create a memorial for your loved one yourself at any time.

Why isn't my notice in the public listing yet?

Death notices on MemoryMantle are published by verified funeral directors and appear in the public recent notices listing as soon as they're published — keeping the listing a trusted record of funeral arrangements.

If you're a family arranging a funeral, ask the funeral director handling the arrangements to publish the notice and it will be listed straight away. You can also create a memorial for your loved one yourself at any time, and share its direct link with family and friends.

Creating a memorial is simple:

  • Click "Create Memorial"
  • Sign in or create an account
  • Fill in the details about your loved one
  • Upload photos
  • Preview and publish

The whole process takes about 10-15 minutes. You can save your progress and return later.

Yes! You can edit your memorial at any time from your dashboard. You can:

  • Add or remove photos
  • Update text and information
  • Change privacy settings
  • Moderate condolence messages

Changes are saved immediately and visible to visitors right away.

What file formats are supported for photos?

We support all common image formats:

  • JPEG/JPG (recommended)
  • PNG
  • GIF (static images)
  • WebP
  • HEIC (iPhone photos)

For best results, we recommend uploading high-resolution images. Maximum file size is 10MB per photo.

How long do memorials stay online?

All death notices and memorials are permanent – they will remain online as long as MemoryMantle operates. We're committed to preserving these precious memories for generations.

AI Features

What is AI photo enhancement?

Our AI technology can dramatically improve old or damaged photos:

  • Upscaling: Increase resolution up to 4x for sharper images
  • Face Restoration: Enhance facial details in old photographs
  • Colorization: Add natural colors to black & white photos
  • Scratch Removal: Automatically repair damage and scratches

The enhancement process takes about 10-30 seconds per photo.

How do AI credits work?

Each product includes AI enhancement credits: death notices include 1, Memorials include 5, and Premium Memorials include 10.

Credits can be used for AI photo enhancement. Purchase additional packs: 5 for €2.99, 10 for €4.99, or 25 for €9.99.

Credits never expire and can be used across all your memorials.

How does the slideshow creator work?

Our memorial slideshow service produces professional tribute videos from your photos:

  • Up to 250 photos with captions
  • Multiple themes and music styles to choose from
  • Custom opening and closing text
  • Smooth crossfade transitions and themed backgrounds
  • HD video delivered by email

Slideshows can be added to any memorial, or ordered on their own without creating a memorial at all — ideal if you just need a video for a funeral service or family gathering.

Pricing: Standard delivery €19.99 (3–5 working days). Rush delivery €49.99 (24–48 hours). Worth knowing: the Premium Memorial (€24.99) includes the same slideshow — plus the full memorial page — for €5 more than the standalone video.

Billing & Payments

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express

All payments are securely processed through Stripe. We never store your full card details.

Is there a subscription fee?

No — everything a family buys is a one-time payment. There's no subscription needed to create or keep a memorial.

  • Death Notice: €2.99 one-time
  • Memorial: €9.99 one-time
  • Premium Memorial: €24.99 one-time
  • Standalone Slideshow: €19.99 one-time
  • Rush Slideshow: €49.99 one-time
  • AI Enhancement Packs: 5 for €2.99, 10 for €4.99, 25 for €9.99

What is your refund policy?

Because a death notice, memorial or slideshow is delivered the moment you pay, at checkout you consent to immediate delivery and waive the standard 14-day EU right of withdrawal.

Beyond that we still consider goodwill refunds within 14 days — a death notice or memorial that hasn't been published publicly, a slideshow not yet started or delivered, and unused AI credits. Used credits and pages already published are non-refundable.

The full table is in our Terms of Service. If you're unsure where you stand, contact our support team and we'll look at it.

Privacy & Security

Who can see my memorial?

By default, memorials are public and can be found through search. However, you have full control:

  • Public: Anyone can view and find through search
  • Unlisted: Only people with the link can view
  • Private: Only you and invited family members can view

You can change privacy settings at any time from your dashboard.

How do you protect my data?

We take data protection seriously:

  • All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • We're fully GDPR compliant
  • Payments processed securely through Stripe
  • Regular security audits
  • EU-based data storage

Read our full Privacy Policy for more details.

Can I delete a memorial?

Yes, you can delete any memorial you've created at any time from your dashboard. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

If someone else created the memorial and you are close family of the person who died, email [email protected] and tell us your relationship. We'll take the page out of our public listings while we look at it, and contact whoever created it.

Where we can, we prefer to transfer the memorial to you rather than delete it — a memorial usually holds messages and photographs left by other mourners, and deleting the page takes their words away too. The full procedure is set out in our Privacy Policy.
